Looking at a long list of folder names with raw numbers requires mental effort to understand size relationships. A visual sunburst diagram makes disk usage immediately clear.
How the Sunburst Diagram Works
In XrayMac's Sunburst Studio, your storage volume is rendered as concentric multi-tiered rings:
- The center represents the root folder or currently focused directory.
- Each concentric ring outward represents the next depth of subdirectories.
- The angular width (arc length) of each sector is mathematically proportional to its byte weight.
If a single video file or virtual machine is responsible for 40% of a folder, it occupies an unmistakable 144-degree slice. You can click any sector to drill into that folder, preview files with the Spacebar, or reveal them directly in Finder.
